Program overview

The 2023 Vandalia Health Cardiology Symposium (VHCS|23) conference will provide a comprehensive review of current topics, treatments and strategies for Structural Heart Disease including: transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), cardiogenic shock, imaging techniques, medications, case presentations, and poster sessions. This interdisciplinary conference is designed for physicians, pharmacists, nurses, radiologic technicians and technologists, and all interested allied health professionals. On Saturday afternoon there will be concurrent breakout sessions; one for physicians and a simultaneous program for nurses and radiologic technologists and technicians.

Upon completion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Provide guidance on imaging tools and techniques for SHD
  • Advise on decision making between surgical and transcatheter therapies
  • Describe current diagnostic and treatment techniques for cardiogenic shock
  • Debate the merits of TandemHeart, LVAD, ECMO, CAD, PE, Mitral Clip
  • Describe strategies and treatments for mitral regurgitation
  • Discuss criteria for case selections for Impella and balloon pumps
  • Advise on strategies for complications of TAVR, mitral clip, Watchman for LAA
  • Explain indications for surgery for mitral regurgitation and valvular heart disease
  • Relate case-based medical treatment for closure devices
  • Enumerate techniques to manage complications of clips and closures
  • Describe medical management strategies for SHD
