Conference Overview 

This conference focuses on the most current topics affecting the diagnosis and treatment of breast diseases and aims to provide the audience with information that updates and describes the current and future care of breast disorders. This educational experience will provide the participants with elements relevant to their daily practice and will assist them in recognizing the alternatives of diagnosis and therapy available now and in the near future. The program includes discussions on genetics, radiology issues, breast imaging, grafting and nerve regeneration, innovations in diagnosis and pathology and immunotherapy. All the experts will participate in an interactive session of questions and answers open to the audience. This half-day session will be useful to surgeons, gynecologists, family practitioners, internists, residents, medical students, nurses, nuclear medicine personnel and radiology and ultrasonography technologists.

Objectives: 

At the close of this symposium, participants should be able to:

  • Provide actionable steps for providers to support cancer survivors in developing sustainable, healthy habits.
  • Enumerate specific genetic mutations related to breast cancer.
  • Explain the role of ultrasound and MRI in breast evaluation.
  • Interpret genetic risk assessment to identify high-risk patients prior to diagnosis.
  • Describe the utilization of radiation in breast cancer care.
  • Summarize the role of mammography in the detection and diagnosis of breast cancer.
  • Describe barriers to breast cancer treatment.
  • Recall reasons for valuing the role of teamwork and communication in breast cancer care.
