Strategies for Compassion: Effectively Caring for the Patient with Substance Use Disorder

Substance Use Disorders affect us all… mothers and fathers, grandparents, sons and daughters, patients and providers. But stress and burnout affect us all too. Effective treatment starts with compassion, but how can the healthcare team respond with empathy and without bias when we are fatigued?

“Strategies for Compassion: Effectively Caring for the Patient with SUDS” explains how the healthcare professional can combat compassion fatigue, avoid stereo-typing, and eliminate barriers to the effective treatment of SUD.

In support of improving patient care, CAMC Health Education and Research Institute is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

To receive credit, participants must complete the sign-in sheet, attend each session and complete an evaluation. ACPE credits will be posted online to the CPE Monitor within six (6) weeks following the activity
