Biography

Mark Waddell, DO, is a 1990 alumnus of the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine and holds board certification in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. He is a past president of the WVSOM Alumni Board. Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at WVSOM and Assistant Program Director of the Family Medicine Residency at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. He also serves as an ER physician at CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. Previously, he served as an Emergency Department Medical Director for both Team Health and WVU Medicine and has amassed over 25 years of experience providing emergency medical care in rural Appalachia. Over the last 30 years, Dr. Waddell has been a Family physician, hospitalist and ER physician. He is an ACLS and ATLS instructor, a long-time member of the International Wilderness Medicine Society and a frequent lecturer on Wilderness Survival to health care providers and laypersons. He also served on the Physician Advisory Council for HealthNet Aeromedical Services and has provided survival training to the medical crews of both HealthNet and Air Evac Lifeteam. He is an avid scuba diver, kayaker and backpacker. He and his wife, Rebecca, share a passion for their family and international short-term medical missions.
