The CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine is pleased to announce that it has named Brian Hensley, MD, FACEP, program director of the Emergency Medicine Residency at Vandalia Health Charleston Area Medical Center, effective May 1.

Dr. Hensley has served as one of the program’s core faculty members since 2016, holding leadership roles including clerkship director and associate program director. A Virginia Tech alumnus, Dr. Hensley earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in 2012 and completed the emergency medicine residency program at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.

"I feel very fortunate to take up the mantle of Emergency Medicine program director at CAMC in my home state of West Virginia,” said Dr. Hensley. "I look forward to supporting and educating future classes of Emergency Medicine residents through their high-quality, high-acuity training so that they may provide the best possible care to every patient they encounter in the future.”

In addition to his educational leadership, Dr. Hensley has held several key roles, including CAMC Emergency Medicine vice chief, and he has served on multiple committees within CAMC and the West Virginia Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
