The CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine is proud to announce that it has appointed Rebekkah Brown, DO, program director of the Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry Residency at Vandalia Health Charleston Area Medical Center, effective July 1.
Dr. Brown, a native of Boone County, WV, earned her undergraduate degree from Marshall University and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2018.
Dr. Brown completed the psychiatry residency program at CAMC in 2022, during which she served as chief resident. She then pursued a forensic psychiatry fellowship at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine before returning to CAMC as a faculty member in 2023.
“It’s an honor to serve as the Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry program director,” said Dr. Brown. “This program taught me how to be a psychiatrist and gave me the strong foundation necessary to achieve goals I once thought unattainable. It is a privilege to lead the program that trained me, and I look forward to giving future psychiatry residents high-quality training like I received.”
Dr. Brown has served as the program’s associate program director since 2024. In addition to her educational leadership, Dr. Brown has served on multiple committees within CAMC and chairs the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law’s early career development committee.
The Institute for Academic Medicine looks forward to Dr. Brown’s continued leadership and positive impact on the program.
