The CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine is pleased to announce the appointment of Edward Nehus, MD, as chair of its Pediatrics department.
Dr. Nehus is a nationally respected pediatric nephrologist and an accomplished educator, researcher and mentor. Over the past year, as interim department chair, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and vision to advance the Institute for Academic Medicine’s clinical, academic and operational missions.
Recognizing these qualities as well as his service and commitment to excellence in pediatric care, the search committee unanimously recommended Dr. Nehus.
“Our department provides an indispensable service to the children of West Virginia for which families are extremely grateful,” said Dr. Nehus.
“To be a part of this has been both a humbling and rewarding experience as a physician. However, an immense opportunity exists to improve this care by expanding our services and increasing access to subspecialty care. As chair of Pediatrics and with the support of the leadership of Vandalia Health, I am excited to lead the department forward in our shared commitment to enhance pediatric healthcare for our communities, one child at a time.”
Dr. Nehus received his medical degree from the Medical University of Ohio and completed his pediatrics residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He then pursued a pediatric nephrology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center while earning a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Research from the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Nehus has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications on a variety of topics, including chronic kidney disease and obesity-related kidney disease.
Dr. Nehus is from the Charleston region and joined the department of Pediatrics in the summer of 2022.
The Institute for Academic Medicine extends warm congratulations to Dr. Nehus.
