Program Overview
The 2026 Vandalia Health Heart and Vascular Symposium (VHHV | 26) will deliver a dynamic and comprehensive review of current practices, innovations and emerging strategies in the management of heart disease, including: percutaneous cardiac interventions, structural interventions and cardiac surgery. This interdisciplinary conference brings together physicians, pharmacists, nurses, radiologic technologists, technicians and allied health professionals for an in-depth educational experience.
Topics will cover advances in transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), cardiogenic shock management, imaging techniques, medical therapies and device-based interventions, alongside case-based discussions and poster sessions showcasing original research and clinical innovation.
Objectives
By the conclusion of the symposium, participants will be able to:
- Provide guidance on imaging tools and techniques for heart disease.
- Evaluate decision-making pathways between surgical and transcatheter therapies for valvular heart conditions.
- Summarize evidence-based strategies for diagnosing and managing cardiogenic shock.
- Compare the benefits and limitations of advanced circulatory support devices, including TandemHeart, LVAD, ECMO, and interventions for CAD, PE, and mitral regurgitation (e.g., MitraClip).
- Describe transcatheter and surgical treatment strategies for valvular disease.
- Outline criteria for selecting patients for Impella and intra-aortic balloon pump support.
- Recognize and manage procedural complications associated with TAVR, MitraClip, and left atrial appendage closure devices (e.g., Watchman).
- Explain surgical indications for mitral valve repair and other valvular interventions.
- Apply case-based learning to guide medical management of closure devices.
- Identify techniques for managing complications following structural heart device implantation.
- Describe evolving pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic management strategies for structural heart disease.
