Conference Overview
We invite you to Bridging the Gap: Strengthening Transitions to Improve Maternal and Neonatal Outcomes, to be held at the CAMC Center for Learning and Research in Charleston, WV. This conference is designed for trauma physicians, nurses and pharmacists who play a role in obstetric and neonatal care in both birthing and non-birthing settings. The health care audience to whom this activity is directed includes but is not limited to obstetricians, gynecologists, emergency medicine physicians, family medicine physicians providing emergency or rural care, certified nurse midwives, advanced practice providers, registered nurses in emergency departments, labor and delivery professionals, ICU and medical-surgical units professionals, neonatal and pediatric providers who perform emergent stabilization, EMS professionals, prehospital care providers and rural and critical access hospital clinicians.
Objectives:
At the close of this symposium, participants should be able to:
- Coordinate emergency obstetric preparedness and interfacility coordination
- Strengthen the clinical, operational and communication competencies of health care professionals who may encounter obstetric emergencies in non-birthing settings
- Improve maternal and neonatal outcomes by enhancing early recognition, stabilization and timely transfer of obstetric patients through evidence-based, emergency care practices and optimized transitions across the continuum of care, including postpartum mental health
- Recognize, stabilize and safely manage emergent obstetric and neonatal conditions, and execute effective, coordinated transitions to definitive obstetric care
