CAMC Internal Medicine residency program is in Charleston, West Virginia. At CAMC Internal Medicine Residency program, our focus is to provide resources to our residents to develop them to their full potential as physicians, educators and leaders. We value growth mindset, integrity and continuous learning which helps us take care of our patients and grow as physicians.

Clinical Rotations and Sites

Important: All of our training sites are within a 5 mile radius of one another.

CAMC General Hospital is home to the highest level Trauma Center, nationally-accredited Medical Rehabilitation and Stroke Centers, Neurosciences Center, Charleston's only accredited Sleep Center, orthopedic trauma services, and southern West Virginia's only Kidney Transplant Center (affiliated with the Cleveland Clinic). General Hospital also offers services such as urology, behavioral medicine and psychiatry, and physical and occupational therapies. Each year, our experienced Trauma Center staff cares for approximately 3,100 patients. Plus, nearly 1,500 patients also receive neurosurgery and medical rehabilitation services here.

CAMC Memorial Hospital is home to one of the highest volume heart programs in the United States. Comprehensive cancer care is also housed on Memorial Hospital's campus. CAMC cancer services have been accredited since 1956 and offer the most, highest trained, nationally certified health care professionals in the region. Memorial Hospital also is the site of the Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery, Vascular Center of Excellence, comprehensive diabetes center, family medicine and internal medicine clinics, and general medical-surgical inpatient services.
 

Our residents get the opportunity to rotate with private practice physicians at the Medical Staff Office Building on the Memorial Hospital campus, as well as see their own patients in the Internal Medicine Residency Clinic. We have a robust pharmacy team to help with multidisciplinary care of our complex clinic patients. The residents also get an opportunity to rotate in the HIV clinic.

Intern Bootcamp is so much fun! Every weekday for the first two months of the academic year, we meet at noon to hear from a variety of faculty and subspecialities from around CAMC on medical topics that are important for an internal medicine resident to know and identify.
