The Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Vandalia Health Charleston Area Medical Center is dedicated to training compassionate, highly skilled physicians.

Aligned with our mission of "striving to provide the best care to every patient every day," our program equips graduates with the expertise to manage complex conditions in seriously injured or critically ill patients.
 

Training Environment

CAMC, part of Vandalia Health, is a nonprofit, 1,138-bed regional referral center in Charleston, WV.

It is the largest distinct health care provider in the state. With a primary and secondary service area encompassing more than 22 counties and serving more than 554,000 people, CAMC is the major tertiary care and referral center in southern West Virginia. 

  • Southern West Virginia’s only Level One Trauma Center (one of only two in the state), accredited by the American College of Surgeons
  • The region's only kidney transplant center
  • Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; Level I Pediatric Intensive Care Unit; CARF-accredited medical rehabilitation center
  • Primary Stroke Center with Comprehensive Medical Rehabilitation Unit
  • Free-standing Cancer Center
  • Over 13,000 cardiac catheterizations and 730 open heart bypass procedures are performed annually by the CAMC Heart and Vascular Center

  • CAMC Institute of Academic Medicine hosts more than 1,000 learners every day

CAMC is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education as a sponsoring institution of 20+ ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship programs. The CAMC Critical Care Fellowship Program is sponsored by CAMC in collaboration with West Virginia University Health Sciences Charleston Campus, an affiliate educational partner.
