Want to develop a CE event for Vandalia Health?
What to Do First
Contact one of our Education Specialists for a quick assessment meeting via Teams (15 minutes) to determine the scope, educational needs, and feasibility of your CE project.
What to Expect
You'll need to complete an application and submit CVs, disclosure statements, lecture presentations and other information about your faculty and planning committee.
What We Do
You must partner with our staff to ensure compliance with ACCME guidelines. Our staff will provide CME consulting and assist with your venue selection, catering, dates, educational formatting, agenda development, marketing assistance and more.
Timeline
A well-attended event should be marketed and communicated well in advance. We recommend starting at least nine months prior to the event date to ensure you get the faculty, audience and venue you need.
What continuing education credits do we offer?
The CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide physician, pharmacist, nursing and psychology credits.
We can provide many other credits locally with partnerships with West Virginia state boards, such as social work or licensed professional counselors. If you need a certain credit, just ask us about it.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and American Society of Radiologic Technologists Credits
The Institute and CAMC Imaging Center are a CE Partner with ARRT/ASRT, but there is a different review process for these credits. Click here for more information.
What "counts" as CME?
Continuing medical education consists of educational activities that serve to maintain, develop or increase the knowledge, skills and professional performance and relationships that a physician uses to provide services for patients, the public or the profession. The content of CME is that body of knowledge and skills generally recognized and accepted by the profession as within the basic medical sciences, the discipline of clinical medicine and the provision of health care to the public.
The ACCME definition of CME is broad, to encompass continuing educational activities that assist physicians in carrying out their professional responsibilities more effectively and efficiently. Examples of topics that are included in the ACCME definition of CME content include:
- Management, for physicians responsible for managing a health care facility
- Educational methodology for physicians teaching in a medical school
- Practice management, for physicians interested in providing better service to patients
- Coding and reimbursement in a medical practice
When physicians participate in continuing education activities that are not directly related to their professional work, these do not fall within the ACCME definition of CME content. Although they may be worthwhile for physicians, continuing education activities related to a physician’s nonprofessional educational needs or interests, such as personal financial planning or appreciation of literature or music, are not considered CME content by the ACCME.
