ACCME guidelines require that the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine must act as a planning partner for any CE events, including grand rounds, regularly scheduled series and online lectures.

We cannot approve any course content for CE that has not been specifically developed with guidance from our staff.

You will need a planning committee consisting of a subject matter expert from each discipline for which you wish to offer CE. This guarantees that the instructional design will meet standards for the health care team. For example, if you plan to offer CE for physicians, nurses and pharmacists, at least one planning committee member must be one of each designation: at least one nurse, one physician and one pharmacist. Once your planning committee is formed, you will need to complete an application and submit it to our staff. Once submitted, our staff will contact you to begin the planning process.

The CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and jointly accredited by the American Nursing Association, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education and the American Psychology Association; therefore, the Institute offers CME for all of these disciplines.

In addition to these, CAMC is also accredited by the American Osteopathic Association, the WV Board of Social Workers and the WV Board of Examiners in Counseling for Licensed Professional Counselors and offers CE for addiction medicine.

  • Addiction medicine professionals
  • Radiologic technologists (with the American Association of Radiologic Technologists (Cat A))
  • Licensed professional counselors
  • Nurses
  • Osteopathic medicine physicians
  • Pharmacists
  • Physicians (AMA PRA CAT 1)
  • Psychologists
  • Social workers

The CAMC Center for Learning and Research is our preferred venue for CE events. Due to its popularity, conference or classrooms should be reserved at least eight months prior to the event. The CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine can reserve other conference venues, such as hotel conference spaces and resorts.

Please contact our staff for more information on cost and availability. Events should garner support from industry exhibits or grants to pay for catering and space rentals.

The Institute does not approve CE based solely on application submission. The planning process goes hand in hand with the approval process; the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine develops events with your planning committee. Approval is gradual as we collect proper documentation from faculty and work out the instructional format for the health care team.

Early communication of an event and marketing lead times are integral to a successful turnout for your event. A typical successful event takes six to nine months to plan.

Yes! The CAMC Print Shop can develop printed materials, including postcards, event posters, flyers and brochures. The Marketing team will create an event website and manage social media posts via Facebook, Instagram and X.

Early marketing is key. We recommend starting marketing at least 90 days prior to the event date.
